The Andean Condor is a bird from the vulture family, native to the Andes Mountain range and appear documented on Chancay textile from 1200 - 1400AD, so they have been around for a very long time.

Condor, as a spirit animal, came to me whilst taking part in a Shamanic Initiation retreat in Peru, offering me guidance to further my healing journey and additional tools to embrace the integration that was happening with courage and strength. I checked during meditation if I could use Condor in my business venture, and I was told YES.

So I came up with "Condor Divine Healing" as my practice name, to continue guiding me during this new venture of personal growth, but also to share these tools with others during their healing journey through my treatments, therapies and workshops (remembering we are whole).

You may be asking at this point what a spirit animal is. Briefly, spirit animals are those which frequently appear in dreams, meditation and/or you start seeing them on your day to day life (TV program, websites, etc) and appear in moments of synchronicity. In some traditions, a spirit animal refers to a spirit that helps to guide and protect a person on their life journey and whose characteristics that person can embody. This link will give you a lovely overview of the meaning of Condor as a spirit animal (https://whatismyspiritanimal.com/spirit-totem-power-animal-meanings/birds/condor-symbolism-meaning/)

I share some of the medicine that Condor offered me to work, to give you an idea of what I, will be offering during my treatments and practices:

Take on different perspectives

These animals fly at altitudes of around 21,000 feet so they can take a wider and clearer perspective of everything below them.

My first teaching was to view my life from different perspectives, seeing beyond my physical limitations and taking a broader and objective point of view. This gives me the opportunity to see all the options that are available to me and discover innovative ways to navigate my journey.

Connect with the divine feminine

The Condor symbolises the divine feminine aspect of our civilisation, which is represented by the heart of the body.

Having had spent most of my life embodying the divine masculine traits deep in our societal and cultural programming, I kept on being called again and again to tap more deeply into the divine feminine aspect of myself. To cultivate more self-compassion and kindness, firmly believe in my intuition, practice self nurturing, allow myself to receive, embrace healthy communities, unity and to start flowing with my cycles and honouring where they take me.

Embrace Duality

This part came to me as I observed the physical qualities of the bird, and noticed that it is primarily black, with some white and their head is hairless and pink.

From this observation I understood that I must embrace all of me equally with love, my shadow self and my light self. My yin and yang and bring them into balance, this intertwined as well with the divine masculine vs divine feminine work as above. The pink head, which resembles the colour of the heart, invited me to connect and align mind and heart and start working on a self where body, mind and heart are aligned.

Divine is within

The Condor was sacred to the Incas who believed that they communicated with the upper world (Hanan Pacha) and brought this back to the earthly realm (Kay Pacha). Connecting Divine information with earthly information.

Condor invited me to trust in my intuition and higher guidance, the Divine lies within not without. Also, to notice and embrace the different styles of spirituality that are making a come back: from meditation to yoga, older traditions like prayer, ceremony and rituals (not religious) all of which develop a stronger connection to the spiritual and our ancestral roots.

Flow

During their flight, they barely flap their wings, at such high altitudes these birds glide with the currents of the winds.

This sent a clear message to me: it is easier to let myself go with the flow of life without fear and the need to fight it, it saves me having to spend a lot of energy trying to control my surroundings and outcomes. Flowing will always take me where I need to be.

Transformation / Adaptability

The condor is currently classified as "Near Threatened", they were hunted for their feathers, to be used in rituals, by guano workers and in more recent times have been poisoned or die due to the rapid change of landscape and lack of adequate food. However, even on the brink of extinction, they have been transforming and adapting in order to continue surviving.

This invited me to view my personal transformation journey as something that is possible, even in the harshest of environments.

Connection with the Earth

Condors are a type of vulture, they are carrion eaters. They are the ultimate recyclers of our planet and play a key role in nature's recycling system.

This allowed me to remember the importance of our connection to mother Earth, how we are all interconnected, and highlighted my responsibility to do all I can to look after the wellbeing of our planet to bring harmony and balance.

The Condor also strongly pointed out that real and meaningful change starts with and within us.

I finish this blog with the ancient indigenous Prophecy of the Eagle & the Condor from the "Americas" that spoke of a time when the Eagle and the Condor - representing the indigenous people of the North and the South - would reunite once again with their original knowledge, strength, diversity and connection to the Earth. This would signal a new "Pachakuti" (word in Quechua meaning reformer of the world) a time of reconciliation, reunification and healing of the land and its peoples.

This prophecy has now been related to the union of the Western and Eastern civilisations of the world.

I trust you enjoyed reading this blog and please note that these are my personal observations. Always take what resonates with you and leave the rest, you are your own guru.

With all my heart,

Zoly
