Embracing the Seasons - Autumn

Since opening up to my spiritual path and diving deeply into this human experience, I have become attuned to the energy of the seasons. I feel how deeply connected our inner cycles are to their cyclical wisdom. It reveals itself not only in our outer world, but our inner world as well. An invisible support on our human journey, freely available to all!
Although, if you stop for a second and notice, you will sense that our bodies are already tuned into this energy. One noticeable sign that Autumn has arrived is the way our hair sheds more during this season.
Embracing the seasons and learning how to use the energy available during the seasons is key to my continued personal and spiritual work and development.
Today, during a Reiki session in which I tapped into the energy of Autumn, I felt how softly and gently it was holding the client through the presence of grief, and allowed for surrender. Despite Autumn marking the beginning of darker times & shedding, I was working with an undoubtedly feminine energy; the left side of the body, our West. It filled the space with a nurturing and loving healing embrace; like a mother holding you through difficult times, inviting & initiating the process of digesting and letting go, working with the Sacral and Root chakras.
I also saw (with my third eye) how the client’s inner light was becoming alive, as if it was a small bonfire, welcoming to sit around and share gratitude for what had been harvested and what did not bear fruit this year. This is the light that allows us to navigate the energy of Autumn, our true essence, always there.
Another beautiful knowing I had is how the Creator (Life Force, Universe, God, Alah, Great Spirit, whatever you wish to call them) moves through this energy. Silently there, guiding us to embrace death, as part of creation.
It felt beautiful working with the upcoming energy of Autumn.
Where I live, in the Northern Hemisphere, soon will be Autumn. We enter this season on the 22nd of September, Autumn Equinox.
Many moons ago, and it still practiced in many traditions, we moved with the seasons, not only to program our harvests and our lives, but to do our own personal and spiritual work.
Autumn is associated to the West, the element, animal, plants, vary depending on the tradition. Since we are in the UK, I always pay attention to the Celtic Wheel, in which Autumn is associated with the element of water.
Autumn is a time of slowing down, reflecting, working on what needs to go & what can stay, intentionally closing chapters and starting to go within (internal reflection).
We start to head into the darkness, the feminine, the Yin; we work with the sacral and root chakras.
During this time, first allow yourself the time to reflect on what has worked and what hasn’t worked (Mentally, Emotionally, Physically and Spiritually), on the projects that have borne fruit & those which haven’t as the first step. Then with intention, start to let go, closing chapters and preserving what you wish to carry forward in your life. [Funnily enough, it makes me think of how “preserves” are eaten throughout autumn and winter from the fruits picked in the summer…]
This process requires softness, warmth, space, silence and rest. It is a time that invites you to stay home, literally and also, the home within you.
To connect with the light within you for guidance, energy and warmth; when the sun starts to appear less and is less warm.
This isn’t a time to start new projects, although you can start drying and collecting the seeds, that you will then plant again in the spring. Yet, in this upside down world, businesses charge full steam ahead. Is it any wonder we burn out?
So I will be embracing this season with less doing & rest, reflect with honesty on this year, give myself permission to surrender & let go, connect with my Self & my inner light.
Things I will be doing to support me: Qigong, meditation, breathwork, eating wholesome foods, listening more & observing as I shed. Staying at home, warm 😊.
Are you ready to embrace the energy of Autumn? What will you be doing to support yourself during this time?
Love always,
Zoly
PS: I write to inspire your curiosity, to start conversation, offer insight and potentially self-enquiry. I love to embrace the philosopher & poet in me.
