I am Spiritual: What does that mean?

I believe in our soul and I am a deeply spiritual being, not religious in any way though.

The word “spiritual” and “spirituality” have become very popular and widely used recently and I wonder if people know or understand what this means to them. Sometimes it may even be linked to someone’s choice of religion.

I will start this blog by stating that I firmly believe that spirituality is a deeply personal and uniquely individual experience, although it ultimately connects us to the all or oneness. So, even though you may find people out there who experience their Spirituality in a similar way to yours, there are always slight variations when we put words to it.

As always, I trust that what I am about to write, if it doesn’t resonate with you, that it at least piques your interest and a willingness to do some inner or self-reflection around this topic.

My humble beginnings in spirituality

It was all about me; not about a God with whom I had fallen out with, or who was described as someone with qualities that are inconceivable to me. Once I remembered and reconnected to my soul and their connection to my human self; then Source made a gentle and sure appearance (I call them Source although they are known by many names: God, Great Spirit, Dios, Allah, Ahaw, Universal Life Force, Universe, etc.)

What is Spirituality for me?

So far in my life experience something that I am clear about: the foundation to my Spirituality is that I am both Soul (essence/energy) and a Human Being (physical/material) at this moment in time.

Given this, for me, Spirituality is the connection and interrelation between my soul and my human self.

It is the way my soul expresses itself as a human; how it interconnects and weaves itself within my humanity. The way I practice my Spirituality serves as a remembrance of the intimate connection between my soul and human body to the Earth (our mother) to each and every human being, the plant kingdom, the animal kingdom, the elements, Stone people, the Cosmos and dimensions beyond this reality; our interstellar relations, our past lives, the “angelic” frequencies, the dragons, the spirit guides and so much more.

My spirituality doesn’t just bring me close to my soul and others; it also reminds me of the true & innate human qualities we all stem from: unconditional love, compassion, kindness, joy, humbleness, courage, equality, abundance to name a few.

The biggest and most humbling part of Spirituality as I practice it, is the inner knowing of the connection that I have remembered between my soul, this human being and Source; a vast and the most beautiful, loving, blissful, heartgasmic* form of “consciousness” that I have had the opportunity to remember and experience in this life time. The one we are all connected through and to.

My Spirituality offers me a better understanding of my soul path and my human path, intertwined and individually. It reminds me to navigate this existence with the least amount of resistance possible in the face of unexpected and undesirable conditions, experiences, events. It allows me to open my arms in gratitude as everything flows and just is.

My Spirituality allows me to embrace being human; having a human experience where not all is as it seems (distortion, lies, etc.) where the path takes many forms, where falling is normal, where making mistakes is key, feeling paramount, healing an essential tool for the journey, where I see how we get to exercise freedom of will and where Remembering this spirituality (or connection between my soul, this human and all of life) is my primary purpose in life.

I have different Spiritual practices, the one I use the most is meditation; either by using the breath or just sitting in silence and stillness. Another practice that strengthens my spirituality is being of service to this planet and all living beings, by being & exercising the best human I can possibly be.

My Spirituality has allowed me to remember why I love: every-thing and every-one; and has redefined my values in life.

If any of this text stirred something within you, I invite you to reflect: Do you consider yourself to be a spiritual being?

With love always,

Zoly

*Heartgasmic - I use this term to describe the feeling I experience when I am in deep connection or communion with Source. It is not a heart attack, it feels like an orgasm that originates in the heart space and expands all the way outwards into my body and energetic fields.
